FFIX HD Mod Guide

How to mod Final Fantasy IX for high-resolution textures, backgrounds, and 60 fps

Step 1 - Preparation

It is highly recommended to use a keyboard and mouse for this process

Step 2 - Download all the things!

1. Purchase and download Final Fantasy IX on Steam. (Ensure you install it on the SSD)

2. Download Moguri Mod Pack (5.5gb)

   1. Go to Desktop Mode (Press the [Steam] button, navigate to the [Power] option, and select [Switch to Desktop]

   2. Open a browser and go to https://sites.google.com/view/moguri-mod/install

   3. Click the [Download] option and extract files to a convenient folder. (I made a folder called "Moguri")

3. Download Memoria Patcher (8mb)

   1. In your browser, navigate to https://github.com/Albeoris/Memoria/releases and download "Memoria.patcher.exe"

Step 3 - Install all the things!

1. In the file explorer (known as 'Dolphin' on linux)

   1. Right click on both MoguriMod_8.3.0.0.exe and Memoria.patcher.exe and select [Add to Steam]

2. Open Steam while in desktop mode (don't select "Return to Gaming Mode")

3. Installing Moguri Mod Pack

   1. Find the entry for Moguri mod in your steam library and click on the gear, then select "Properties"

   2. Select "Compatibility", tick the box for "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool", then select "Proton 8.0-4"

   3. Select "Play" and follow the prompts

   4. When asked for the install location, enter this: Z:\home\deck\.local\share\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY IX\

4. Run Final Fantasy IX for the first time and configure the settings as you like.

   1. Exit the game.

5. Installing the Memoria Mod

   1. Follow steps as you did for the Moguri Mod Pack for the first 3 steps

Step 4 - Play the game!

1. Close all the windows you have open (or minimise them) and select "Return to gaming mode"

2. Play the game! (config guide coming soon)
